The blogosphere and the public sphere are
evidentially two separate entities, although at the same time they are
moderately interconnected when it comes to their online standings. Ideologies
cross over between the two platforms on a number of occasions, the public
sphere consisting of various individuals around the world voicing their
opinions, thoughts and theories. These expressions effectively are what creates
and enables the blogosphere to continue to exist.
"A portion of the public sphere comes
into being in every conversation in which private individuals assemble to form
a public sphere" (Habermas).
Habermas discusses the interconnections
between the public sphere and blogosphere throughout the current day and age. The
popularity of the blogosphere in recent years has seen a significant increase
online, with the ability for individuals to discuss their opinions, thoughts
and theories on a public forum with freedom of speech. This has also seen a
higher increase as people enjoy discussing events throughout the media and news
articles that may seem biased or unfair in the public eye.
Thanks to globalisation over the previous
years, both the blogosphere and the public sphere will continue to be popular
forums online for many people to express their opinions freely. Although both
concepts are infact separate, they evidently do interconnect in more than one
level.
